Dear sir
Very many thanks for your letter of sympathy and condolence.  I received a couple of days ago, through the tragic loss of my dear Son Richard who died bearing such a grand name.  He has left many friends to mourn his loss.  It pleased me very much for the nice way you spoken of him, and I feel that he carried out his duties to the last.  It is a comfort to know that he is laid to rest, and how very nice to know that the Regiment held a Dedication programme at the Cemetary where Richard lies with his comrades, and also his Company Commander Major James Harvey Jones M C.  Our loss is so great for
