Narrative:

Painting was done by George Hutchinson in 1896, twenty years after Howe's death. 

Hutchinson was born in England and moved to Great Village as a child. He returned to England where he became a noted portrait artist, and later came back to Great Village and taught painting.

Description: Framed portrait of Joseph Howe.
History of Use: Portrait was hung in the Provincial Normal College in Truro. 
Portrait was found at the property of Mrs. Jack Tynes and given to the Little White Schoolhouse Museum by Gordon Faulkner.
