History of Use:

Fabric was purchased in an open market in Nigeria by Lynn McLelland (resident of Grand Pre, Nova Scotia) and she made the outfit in 1963.  The top was made from a Vogue pattern -- when skirt styles became longer she shortened it and made black pants.  The outfit was made for a New Years Eve party held around the faculty club pool.  Lynn was in Africa with her husband Jim McLelland (Math Professor) for two years while he was working a term appointment at the University of Ubadan.
