Narrative: This particular basket was presented as a gift to a woman (Mrs Clifford Wasson) who taught school at Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.  It was a 'going away' gift.
Description: Square-bottomed, straight, rounded sides, checker-woven of natural and dyed woodsplint, probably ash. Handle, possibly notched, set into weave. Rim reinforced with inner wood hoop and outer woodsplint bound with dyed woodsplint. Handle nailed to rim.
