Karl M. Creelman, Tramp Cyclist
Originally from Upper Stewiacke, Karl Creelman worked for D.H. Smith & Co., selling books, stationary and fancy goods in Truro, before embarking on his trip around the world by bicycle in 1899. The Oxford Manufacturing Company presented him with a suit of clothes to be worn as advertisement for their "excellent celebrated tweeds". One wonders whether tweeds proved quite the right garb for the tropics. Traveling westwards, he successfully circumnavigated the globe, landing in Saint John, New Brunswick in September 1901.
