Accession number: 2015.167.1
Date: 1930 – 1940
Materials: cotton, flour sacking
Measurements: 28.5 cm L x 27 cm W
Description: four pieces of sacking stitched together; the waistband has five button holes: one on each side at the front , one on each side at the back and one in the middle of the back. Because there is no elastic in the waistband, each side has a placket to allow the wearer to put the garment on.  Its possible the button hole at the back was used to attach the underpants to a button on the inside of the trousers.
