Basket

Accession number: O.140
Category: container
Materials: ash? or reed?
Measurements: 36.4 cm Diameter x 23 cm Depth
Description: a round basket on a square base; the staves secured by a single piece of bent wood on the outside and a single piece of bent wood on the inside; these two 'rims' have been attached to each other by means of round-headed nails and the excess nail length has been hammered into the inside ring.  There is one bent wood handle across the centre of the basket which is secured loosely enough so the handle lays on the side of the basket when not being used for carrying.
