Description: CYLINDRICAL PLATED COPPER WEDDING BOWL OR CHOSHI WITH SPOUTS ON BOTH SIDES. HANDLE OF SAME MATERIAL EXTENDING FROM THIRD SIDE. HANDLE'S LENGTH IS ADJUSTABLE. HEAVILY ENGRAVED WITH TOKUGAWA FAMILY CREST AND VARIOUS ENGRAVINGS OF OUTDOOR SCENERY, LEAVES, BIRDS, TREES, AND FLOWERS.
History of Use: USED TO SERVE HOT SAKE AT BANQUETS OR WEDDINGS AND OFTEN HAD LONG HANDLES AS A SERVING AID AND TO HELP DISSIPATE HEAT. PIECE BEARS CIRCULAR CREST OF THE TOKUGAWA FAMILY, WHOSE VARIOUS HEADS SERVED AS MILITARY RULERS OF JAPAN FROM 1615-1868.
