ROYCE EISENHAUER OF LOWER LAHAVE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 413 A (MOUSTACHE CUP) AND 413 I (CHEESE DISH) WHICH WERE DONATED BY THE FAMILY OF JOHN (1882-1953) AND LILLIAN (1884-1972) EISENHAUER (DECEASED) OF LOWER LAHAVE, THROUGH MR. ROYCE EISENHAUER (1921-1971), ONE OF THE FAMILY AT LOWER LAHAVE, N.S. - PER BLACK LEDGER.
Description: Round (3+3 bottom), twine-woven basket with split and peeled alder. Tapered hardwood pieces inserted alongside bottom splints ending at outer edge of bottom. Side double-staked with 24 uprights and twine-woven, completed with woven border. 2 side handles added and covered with rope. Addition of bottom woven rim for strength.
History of Use: This type of basket was commonly used to carry fish or garden vegetables.
