Narrative: Owned previously by Mrs. Janet Fraser Andrews, stepmother of the donor and sister to the artist.
The artist who painted this piece was likely an amateur or hobby artist. She may have had minimal training or natural skill at painting. While the tree shows a somewhat painterly application, the house and path are clearly delineated suggesting the artist was perhaps not entirely comfortable using the medium.
Description: A small watercolour painting of an apple tree in blossom to the right of centre. A dirt road runs from centre foreground and disappears behind knoll to the right. A house stands on the knoll seen through the apple tree. The painting is glassed and framed in a mitred frame which appears to have vertical slashes imposed in the wood. A backing is nailed to the frame. Signed by the artist in the right hand corner.
